Research Programme and Publications
Dr Remco Schimmel is an independent researcher who completed his PhD at the University of Twente in 2007. He brings extensive professional experience from his many years as a strategic adviser and project manager at the Dutch Ministry of Defence. Since 2018, he has also supervised and assessed bachelor’s and master’s theses.

The pentalogy
The programme resulted in five dissertation manuscripts, collectively referred to as the “pentalogy.” The development of each manuscript—including the use of artificial intelligence and the procedures applied to monitor and enhance the quality of the resulting texts—is documented in a so-called ‘Methodological Reflection Report’. Both the manuscripts and their accompanying reports have been deposited with the Benelux Office for Intellectual Property (BOIP) through its i-DEPOT service, creating dated evidence of their provenance and priority, as well as of the process through which they were produced.
